The Redmen TV – Match Preview: Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Newcastle United vs Liverpool

St. James’ Park 12:45 Sunday

Newcastle United and Liverpool supporters both have reason to be confident ahead of Saturday’s meeting in the North East – Newcastle United have a new and dependable goalscorer in Loic Remy, whilst Liverpool’s form has improved after a brief blip (comprising three games without a win) which threatened to lay waste to their table-topping early season form.  Alan Pardew’s Newcastle have scored twice in each of their last five games (all competitions); claiming League victories against Aston Villa and Cardiff City that helped them into mid-table after a poor and notably goal-shy start.  For Brendan Rodgers’ side, Luis Suarez’s return has heralded the blossoming of a promising partnership with Daniel Sturridge – the pair have shared five goals over the course of two 3-1 victories over embattled Sunderland and Crystal Palace, helping the Reds to return to the upper-reaches of the Premier League.  Supporters of the Reds have reason to recall great memories from recent trips to Newcastle – though the emphatic victories of 2007, 2008, and 2013 gloss over dire defeats in 2010 and 2012.  After the international break, this is a crucial match for both; Newcastle could head a few places in either direction depending on the result and Liverpool will be seeking to re-assert their credentials as a force for 2013-14.
