The Redmen TV – Match Preview: Liverpool vs Crystal Palace

Anfield,

15:00 Saturday

Crystal Palace make their first visit to Anfield since November 2004’s 3-2 defeat, this Saturday – the last meeting between the Club’s taking place at Selhurt Park some eleven months later (Palace taking a 2-1 League Cup victory). Liverpool and Palace find themselves very much at opposite ends of the table during the early weeks of the season, in 2nd and 19th respectively – the Reds having picked up 13 points and four wins during a promising opening period, whilst the South London side have just 3 points from a victory against Sunderland to show for their six matches so far. Importantly, the Eagles’ victory game against bottom-of-the-league Sunderland – supporters will hope that, much like Aston Villa last season, their Club can compete for survival by having a good record against their fellow-battlers. Nevertheless, Ian Holloway’s side have already been cut adrift from the other promoted sides, Hull City and Cardiff City, and other Clubs with pre-season fears already have a couple of wins on the board. Brendan Rodgers was clearly delighted by the fantastic performance of attacking-duo Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge last Sunday, and will hope that his Liverpool side can assert their authority over Palace early on in this rare 3pm Saturday kick-off.
